The final examination consists of the discussion before a committee of a thesis written in English and developed in the context of experimental work.

The thesis work stems from an innovative idea of the student, usually developed during the internship, and is carried out at a company, a public or private institution or at a University facility.

The activity enables students to acquire operative and analytical skills, to learn techniques and tools of analysis, and to apply the knowledge they have learned in terms of innovation, autonomous thinking and communication.

Thesis work is carried out under the supervision of:

  • a supervisor, chosen from among professors of the University or among lecturers teaching courses coherent with the educational aims of the Master's Degree
  • a co-supervisor, who is the reference within the company or public institution (it is optional if the activity is carried out at University facilities).

The number of ECTS credits of the final examination is specified in the Teaching Regulations of the course (Regolamento didattico del corso di studio, in Italian only).

Procedure, composition of the committees and computation of the degree grade are ruled by the Final Examination Regulation (in Italian only).

Graduation sessions and deadlines

In order to begin thesis work, it is necessary to have filled in the request for registering the dissertation topic, generally five months before to the graduation. If If the thesis work is carried out in facilities outside of the University of Trento, you must also request a specific authorization.
